Recorded just before the pandemic, This features 9 compositions of Billy Newman in various styles of Brazilian Instrumental music Samba, Choro, Baiao + the 12/8 Is Self Control Always Necessary and the 5/4 Regifter. All with ample solo space for the experienced players who form part of the Quintet. The trumpeter Ben Holmes joins in on the Choro "Pobeto" and Samba "Voce Esta Convidada" to make a sextet. The songs almost all reflect the joys and trials of everyday life with having a daughter a bit late in life and living with my amazing wife Lilia, Carioca through and through who must deal with a bad mannered New Yorker like myself. Well there's the joy in the Affinity that dyed in the wool Brooklyners like myself have with sharp tongues, fast moving Rio natives. I believe the music reflects our life vibrations, the beauty of the harmony. His and her 7th Major Minor Crisis is a good tune to start with. Baby's Little Symphony is a Baiao written while a lively baby is next to me carrying on in a big way in her crib. Yes many stories with each piece. Enjoy...
